The opening strains...

After my last "official" class of the day, I lingered in the recording studio to begin work on the first track for the album.

My collaborator for this tune is Jesse Crawford.  He contributed quotes from Jane Erye by Charlotte Bronte and The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery.

I sat in Mattson Studio A, imagining myself instead sitting on a terrace or veranda, sharing a pot of tea with Jesse, and staring out on a pastoral setting in the late fall....

As the sun comes around 4:30p, the warmth of the sun swirls in invisible eddies with wisps of cool air.  We sip chamomile, the strains of a chamber ensemble come wafting across the hillside, and mix with the gentle scent of the fading foliage. Rustling leaves are punctuated by sips and tea cups being set back on their saucers.

The darkening horizon prophecies rain.  We gather our accoutrements and move indoors, the aroma of my wife's cooking in the kitchen greets us in a warm embrace.  At the dining table, now staring through antique glass, the scent of chamomile and the faint echos of the ensemble harmonize with the food.

We sit, we sip, we sigh.  I silently excuse myself to help with supper preparations.  On the way, I find myself humming the melody which came unexpectedly on the breeze...

More later...

Blessings,
Ryan
